My Machu Picchu Trek for Action Against Hunger

In September 2019, I started fundraising for Action Against Hunger, an amazing international charity committed to saving the lives of malnourished children and supporting their families to beat hunger. The aim was to hit my target of £1,170 by trekking for 6 days at 4,600m through jungles and mountains to Machu Picchu. Although COVID halted all plans to make it Machu, the incredible work of AAH has continued despite the pandemic.

Action Against Hunger provide long-term solutions to reduce human suffering caused by hunger. By providing aid, food and water, they change the lives of children and adults every day. Action Against Hunger have continued their fight against poverty and hunger, as well as responding to the effects of the pandemic across many countries.

In Bangladesh, as well as continuing life-saving programmes treating children for malnutrition, AAH has been working with the local government to provide hygiene kits and install handwashing stations in vulnerable communities, including refugee camps. In Ethiopia, AAH are supporting 6 hospitals, 92 health centres and 429 health posts by sourcing critical medical supplies and working with rapid COVID response teams.
